Service

Vision...one of our most precious senses. Unexplainable to those without it; irreplaceable to those who have it. Protecting the gift of sight is one of Delta Gamma's highest priorities. Since 1936, Delta Gamma's philanthropic purpose has been to stop blindness before it starts. For men and women for whom blindness is a fact, the mission has been to impact the quality of their lives in a myriad of positive ways. 



Nationally, Delta Gammas give more than 96,000 Service for Sight volunteer hours each year, one volunteer at a time, each leaving her mark on the world. All because one member—Ruth Billow (Eta Akron), who was blinded in a childhood accident, made an impassioned plea to Convention in 1936. She asked that Delta Gamma make a difference in the lives of those with limited or no sight. 



To help make a difference locally the Central Florida Alumnae Chapter participates in service and fund-raising projects in many ways...

  • Collecting Labels for Education
  • Collecting Box Tops for Education
  • Collecting old eyeglasses for recycling
  • Cooking Dinner for the Ronald McDonald House
  • Raising money for the Delta Gamma Foundation

 

Labels, Box Tops and Eyeglasses

Before you throw away your cans, lids and other food packaging, check to see if the label or UPC can bring needed equipment to the Delta Gamma Schools for children who are visually impaired. Also, don’t get rid of your old eyeglasses, donate them to DG and we’ll make sure they go to someone in need.

 

Labels for Education

Collect Campbell's Soup® UPC codes from canned labels or lids for distribution to Delta Gamma schools for children who are blind or visually impaired. *NOTE: be sure to clip and send the entire entact barcode. More information is available at:

Box Tops for Education

Collect General Mills' Box Tops for Education for to help a local blind school redeem them for cash for their school. More information is available at:

Donating Eyeglasses

Donate your old eyeglasses and we’ll donate them to someone who needs them. Delta Gamma partners with the Lions Clubs and New Eyes for the Needy to have the eyeglasses cleaned, repaired and fitted for those in need.

 

Box tops, labels and eyeglasses can be submitted at any Central Florida Alumnae Chapter meeting or event.
